I gave some of the most interesting people I know a disposable camera with one rule:
capture what feels real.
When the cameras came back, I developed each roll, picked five photos, and invited them to the studio.
Then we didn’t just talk about the photos – we talked about what they revealed.
One question guided it all:
what on erth is going on?
I invited Brittany because of her infectious energy, her work ethic, and her incredible experiences. I knew she’d make great use of the camera and would return with great stories to tell. She did not disappoint.
I invited Zack because of how he sees. I’ve always admired his work, and he’s been a steady source of insight, knowledge, and perspective for me over the years. I was honored that he sat down with me to share his style, thoughts, and presence with the world.
I invited Kate because she is fearless. A few years ago, we sat over coffee while she was on the precipice of leaving her corporate job to go all in on macarons. She didn’t know how it all would work out. But her hunch was right. Charhouse Cookie has become a staple in the greater Hartford area. Not just because of what it sells, but because of what it creates.
I invited Ryan for his trailblazing mentality. He’s pushed his creative limits, lived the stories first, and always returned home with something to share. His approach to travel, writing, and creating without expectations has deeply influenced my own work, and I couldn’t think of a better “Pilot” for woeigo?‘s first episode.
